"Caminante no hay camino se hace camino al andar" (Antonio Machado)
Traveller, there is no path. You create it as you go.
Chattooga Wild and Scenic River
- My favourite place on earth.
Great hiking, canoeing and kayaking.
Made famous by the movie "Deliverance" with Burt Reynolds.
Lake Jocassee
- My second favourite place to be.
Only one percent of the lake Jocassee's shore is developed. The far shores are so remote that black bears still populate the area. I spotted one while hiking to Jumping-Off Rock. During the past drought the lake was lined by white beaches, as the water level was 36ft befow full pond.
Photos of waterfalls in North and South Carolina. Here is a good book on how to find them: The Waterfalls of South Carolina, by Tim Cook and Benjamin Brooks.
Latin name: Pueraria montana var. lobata
Kudzu is a vine common throughout the southeastern United States. It grows a foot a day and about 60 feet a season, covering everything in its path before it dies off in winter.
Latin name: Canis familiaris pueraria lobata
Kudzu is our Long Coat German Shepherd, the apple of my eye. Because he is southern and grows like weed , we named him Kudzu.
I joined the Foothills Paddling Club.
Here are pictures from a couple of recent paddling trips with the club. Should anybody like to have some of the pictures I will burn a CD with full size pictures.
Also check out Clayton's pictures.
In 2002 my friends John and Sara met on the Chattooga River, where John was working as a raft guide for Wildwater Ltd. They fell in love and moved to Idaho together. On September 25th, 2004 they returned to the Chattooga to get married.
Here are pictures of John and Sara, of the wedding and of our whitewater rafting trip with the wedding party.
